What is Salt Therapy?
Salt therapy aka Halotherapy is a powerful, natural treatment in a controlled air medium that simulates the natural salt cave microclimate to help treat respiratory and skin conditions. This is no health fad – from the ancient Greeks to modern-day doctors, medical experts have championed its amazing effects.
What is The Salt Cave?
The Salt Cave clinic provides 100% natural, effective, risk-free salt therapy treatments. Visitors merely sit back in one of our treatment rooms, where the micro-climate of a natural salt cave is reproduced by the most advanced device called Breeze Tronic Pro. This technology is used ONLY by The Salt Cave franchise in the United Kingdom.

Over 93,000 patients visited The Salt Cave clinics in the first ten years. According to a survey, 9 out of 10 clients recommend this therapy and are satisfied with the improvements. Read some of their success stories to understand how it helped them – and how it can help you.
I had only one treatment but overnight my air passages were absolutely clear despite the feather pillows! And the next day I felt more energised.
I must admit I was rather sceptical about how much sitting in a room full of salt would help. 12 sessions later and I have to admit I have been rather surprised. I am amazed at how much it has aided me in my running... Prior to the treatment, I lived on Piriton for my hayfever, I have not had a pill for the last couple of weeks and have not suffered at all!
The course of treatments at the Salt Cave resulted in a big reduction in Asthma and Eczema related symptoms for me. Also, it is a very relaxing environment. The Salt Cave is well run and staff were friendly and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend this to other people.
We operate a chain of clinics in the UK (www.saltcave.co.uk) since 2009, providing Salt Therapy to 93,000 clients. We also provide the technology and training for clients all across the world who are interested in opening salt therapy clinics or rooms as individual business, want to add a salt room to their existing SPA or treatment centre or just want to benefit from Salt Therapy in the comfort of their homes.
“We are the only salt therapy device manufacturer which runs salt therapy treatment centres. Thanks to the continuous first hand feedback and experience we can develop the best device.”
We have developed - and continue to develop - the Breeze Tronic Pro medical device, making it the best halo generator on the market today. We created a medical device that is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye but it is also safe and easy to use for all the medical conditions salt therapy is recommended for. It is classified as a medical device in the lowest risk category.
“We brought in and treated successfully over 93 000 clients ourselves. We know which marketing tool works and which not and what it takes to make a clinic successful.”
We offer a training package which covers technical instructions and help all through the planning, design and fitting-in works. It also includes training for the operation which is the key to running a profitable and successful business right from opening. This business requires special medical, technical and marketing knowledge which we can give you based on our experience building and running our own salt therapy clinics and rooms.
“Our clients, who add a salt room to their existing SPA generate $12 000 - 15 000 income right from the first month due to the PR and marketing instruments we give into their hands. On the other hand many of our competitor’s clients with no real medical and business knowledge close down their unit in the first 12 months.”
Salt has the following properties:
- Mucolytic effects: loosens excessive mucus and speeds up mucociliary transport
- Removes pathogen agents (airborne pollen)
- Reduces IgE level (immune system oversensitivity)
While relaxing in one of our treatment rooms, customers inhale the dry, salt-enriched air deep down into the lungs, where the healing properties do their greatest work. The salt loosens the mucus, which begins to clear quickly, and inflammation is reduced, which makes more room in the airways for you to breathe. Symptoms subside, sometimes for up to 12 months.
After becoming passionate about the efficacy of salt therapy, founder Denes Gal began a journey of consultation with scientists and doctors to develop Breeze Tronic Pro, the most sophisticated technology for replicating a salt cave.
Strategic sensors are just one of the ways the salt levels in the atmosphere are continually monitored in our treatment rooms. Breeze Tronic Pro is far superior to cheaper options, which are ineffective and potentially harmful.
One of them was salt’s positive effect on the airways. The tale then jumps to 1843, when a Polish doctor documented how salt mine workers didn’t seem to suffer from the same respiratory problems as the general population. Salt Therapy generated in a controlled environment began in 1989 in Russia. The first Salt Cave opened in 2008 in the UK.
Amongst dry aerosol technology, there are also other types of salt therapy claiming to be just as effective. This is not true.
There are two ways salt therapy is commonly sold: the first is by placing large amounts of salt or salt bricks in a room. The reason this treatment method is not effective is not enough salt can evaporate into the room with the right particle sizes for the different conditions being treated. You would have to spend hours in a room like this to feel any effect and the hundreds of other clients coming in and out would use up the salt air very quickly.
The second method is wet salt therapy. Within this technique, a saline solution is evaporated into the air and breathed in by clients. Although this is more effective than the first method, the wet salt only reaches the upper airways and sticks to the nose and mouth, not reaching the throat or the deepest part of the lungs and sinuses. This reduces the salt’s phlegm dissolving properties because it doesn’t get to the places where the salt’s effect would be most needed. This is why spending a few days on the beach is less effective than an hour in a dry aerosol salt room.
With our dry salt aerosol technology not only is the salt concentration of the air in the salt room ideal for all clients, but the particle sizes are also calculated to make the therapy as beneficial as possible to everyone whether they are suffering from a skin condition or a disease that affects the deepest part of the lungs.
In 2011 The Salt Cave was invited by the NHS to participate in a pilot project, as part of the Personal Health Budget program, to provide therapy for a COPD sufferer called Clara Buffong. The NHS paid for her treatment and they monitored her for over a year.
Clara Buffong, who took part in the project and explains:
“The Salt Cave changed my life. Before I visited the Salt Cave I was on lots of antibiotics and steroids, none of which made me feel much better. I was basically confined to my house, and hated to be around people as my breathing was so noisy. However, this has now changed thanks to salt therapy. I know I will never get completely better, but the Salt Cave lets me live again and manage my illness in a way that I can enjoy my life again. When I walk out of the Salt Cave I feel high on life. I call it my heaven on earth. If salt therapy can work for me it can work for anybody, so I urge all COPD sufferers to give it a go”
From 1st April 2014 everyone who is eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding has the right to apply for Personal Health Budget. If you apply for Personal Health Budget, together with your NHS team (such as a GP) you will develop a care plan. The plan sets out your personal health and wellbeing needs, the health outcomes you want to achieve, the amount of money in the budget and how you are going to spend it. You can use a personal health budget to pay for a wide range of items and services, including therapies, personal care and equipment. New patients found eligible for Continuing Healthcare from 1st April 2014 will also have the same rights.
